Rwanda Gorilla Trekking

Rwanda Gorilla Trekking.

Rwanda Gorilla Trekking is an enchanting journey through the land of an undulating thousand hills.

Volcanoes National Park beckons with its mystical gorillas, while Nyungwe National Park hides chimpanzees amidst ancient forests. Venture into Akagera National Park, where giraffes, zebras, and lions roam the savannahs. And take advantage of the tranquil shores of Lake Kivu for kayaking and boat cruises.

An awe-inspiring audience with mountain gorillas awaits in Rwanda’s lush Volcanoes National Park. These gentle giants thrive amidst bamboo-covered slopes. Groups of just eight trekkers, ensuring an intimate and respectful encounter and escorted by expert trackers, embark on guided journeys through dense rainforests.

The reward is an hour spent in the company of these magnificent creatures, observing their familial bonds and playful antics. That’s gorilla trekking in Rwanda for you.

General rules, guidelines and etiquette in Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

  • Maintain a safe distance – stay at least 7 meters (23 feet) away from the gorillas.
  • No flash photography – flashing lights can disturb the gorillas and frighten them off.
  • No noises or sudden movements – the gorillas are calm, and the forest is generally peaceful. Sudden loud noises or movements can alarm the gorillas.
  • No eating or drinking near the gorillas – food can attract them and disrupt their natural behaviour.
  • Do not litter or disturb nature – be conscious of nature, keep the forest clean and try to leave the area as pristine as you found it.
  • Adhere to your guide’s instructions at all times. Your guide is experienced in gorilla behaviour and will give instructions to ensure the safety of the group and the gorillas
